This Privacy Policy explains how the KlimEd project website handles visitors’ personal data.

In brief

The KlimEd website is an informational website for a research project of the Institute for Migration Research. The website does not use:

  • contact forms,
  • newsletter subscriptions,
  • user accounts or online registration systems,
  • analytics, marketing, or advertising tools.

 

The only personal data that may be processed are data you voluntarily send to us by email and basic technical data necessary for the operation and security of the website.

2. Data we process and the legal basis

The KlimEd website does not collect personal data through contact forms, newsletters, user profiles, or analytics tools. Personal data may be processed in the following cases:

2.1. Contact by email

If you contact the Institute or the KlimEd project team by email, we process the data you include in your message, such as your full name, email address, institution, message content, and any other information you voluntarily provide.

These data are used solely to respond to your enquiry, continue communication related to the project, or process a request you have submitted. Please do not send sensitive personal data by email unless this is necessary for your enquiry.

2.2. Technical data and website operation

When you visit the website, basic technical data required for its proper operation, security, and protection may be processed. These data may include your IP address, access time, browser type, device, operating system, and similar technical information.

Such data may be processed through hosting infrastructure and security systems and are not used to identify visitors, create profiles, or track them for marketing purposes.

2.3. Legal basis for processing

Personal data are processed only where an appropriate legal basis exists, for example:

  • where processing is necessary to respond to an enquiry you have submitted,
  • where processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations,
  • where processing is necessary for the security and proper functioning of the website,
  • where processing is connected with the Institute’s public and research tasks.

3. External services and data recipients

Personal data are not sold or used for marketing profiling. Data may be accessible to persons and service providers involved in maintaining the website, hosting infrastructure, system security, or communications, solely to the extent necessary for those purposes.

3.1. Hosting

The website is hosted by Hostinger. The hosting provider may process technical data necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and protect the hosting infrastructure. Such processing is carried out in accordance with the provider’s privacy rules and security measures.

3.2. Google Fonts

The website uses Google Fonts to display typography and maintain a consistent visual appearance. When fonts are loaded, a visitor’s browser may establish a connection with Google’s servers. Technical data such as the IP address, requested file, browser information, and the page from which the request was made may be transmitted to Google. Google Fonts are not used for marketing tracking on this website.

3.3. YouTube videos

The website may contain embedded YouTube videos related to the KlimEd project. Displaying or playing an embedded YouTube video may result in technical data being transmitted to YouTube or Google. Where possible, videos are embedded using privacy-enhanced mode. If you do not want YouTube to process data related to displaying a video, do not play embedded videos on the website.

3.4. External links

The website may contain links to external websites, documents, databases, social networks, video platforms, or other resources. The Institute for Migration Research and the KlimEd project are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of external websites. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before using them.

4. Cookies

The website does not use analytics, marketing, or advertising cookies. Only technically necessary cookies or similar technologies required for the basic operation, security, and maintenance of the website may be used. More detailed information is available on the “Cookies” page.

5. Data retention

Data sent by email are retained for as long as necessary to respond to the enquiry, continue communication, document project activities, or comply with legal and institutional obligations.

Technical data related to the operation and security of the website are retained for periods determined by technical, security, and legal requirements and by the hosting provider’s rules.

6. Data security

The Institute for Migration Research and the KlimEd project take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or unauthorised alteration.

7. Your rights and complaints

Under applicable personal data protection law, you have the right to request:

    • access to your personal data,
    • correction of inaccurate or incomplete data,
    • erasure of data where the applicable conditions are met,

8. Children and minors

The website is informational and educational. It does not collect personal data from children or minors through forms, user accounts, or registration systems.

Where project activities involve students or schools, data processing takes place outside this website and in accordance with applicable ethical, legal, and institutional rules.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes to website functionality, project activities, or applicable law. The updated version will be published on this page.
